CCL Atlanta vs Monterrey Leg 2

That first game against Monterrey was horrible to watch. We looked completely lost and with no attacking power in us. My hubby described it as a "bunch of 3rd grades playing against professionals". It kinda did. There was no cohesiveness and the whole team look confused. And well, the result kinda of speaks for itself: 3-0. Now, before anyone goes crazy on me, let me say a few things. First of all, I agree, Monterrey is the best team in the CONCACAF. There is no denying that. Not only that but they have been playing together for a long time and they are deep into their season; so of course they look better than we do out on the field. But, here is the thing, my biggest concern watching us play that day was the attitude. The lack of attack, the lack of shine that we've always had. I honestly got scared and felt that maybe we had lost our mojo.  Add to that the fact that we had lost against D.C a couple days before and that we tide our home opening game agai

My hubby and fútbol

When I met Shea 14 years ago, he could not have been less interested in fútbol. His family was not into any sport, and my husband had never really watch fútbol. Shea knew from day one that I have a crazy love for fútbol, that my family cheered for Chivas and that if he wanted to date me, then he was going to have to sit through some crazy fútbol games. The first World Cup after we got engaged and just before our wedding, was the Germany 2006 World Cup. Our wedding was at the end of the summer that year, and I was still living in Mexico then. Every time we would talk on the phone or video chat, I would tell Shea about the games and how Mexico was doing or that Mexico had been eliminated again, or that this country or that country was great. I think that is when it hit

¿Sinceramente? I don't know. I guess I decided to use this avenue to keep and share my thoughts on fútbol. I am Mexican and I would almost say that my love for fútbol was an inheritance from my dad. I was raised in the central part of Mexico and my family are huge fútbol fans - well, we specifically cheer for Chivas . My earliest memories of fútbol was during the Mexico '86 World Cup. I was three years old and I remember being on my dad's shoulders as we went to one of the games. To tell the truth, I cannot tell what game it was or if Mexico played (although I am pretty sure they did), but I can remember the excitement and the craziness of the stadium. My dad played fútbol from a young age and he almost made it professionally. Almost. I recently found out that he was scouted by the Monterrey Rayados, which is pretty amazing. For reasons that were not fútbol related, my dad had to quit. I think how much he loved the game and how much he missed it, took part of why I l
